Crochet Flowers and Hangers

I should be working but I'm not......

It seems these little crochet flowers are just too much fun to make.... I can't stop!

I've crocheted more hanger covers but only have 2 more sewn on so far. Now....off to get the rest of them finished. Work? ...it's the weekend...I should be able to take a day off to play!

Chippy White Paint

It seems I'm surrounding myself more and more with chippy white painted things. It used to be weathered red barn wood and I still like that but the white looks good anywhere. Here are a few things around the house and yard that are weathered white paint....

Star made by a local craftsman....

Old barn pulley painted white and weathered....

A cool wall pocket made by the same local crafts man, I haven't found the right place to hang this yet...

The old fence on our front porch that's tied to the post and an old cream can....

The wood on the very old turkey house...my dad would say it needs paint but I kind of like it!

Vintage Mother of Pearl bead necklace.......

A pretty little and very old chocolate box in beautiful condition. I love lilacs, this is one of my favorite things! It resembles birch bark in the background...makes it even better!

Crochet Clothes Hangers and Flowers

Well, I see them on blogs and just love them! I've had no luck finding them to buy. I have one old grubby old one that I think my Grandmother may have made. I decided if she could crochet with crochet thread then why can't I! So I looked it over and figured out the pattern, got out a size 7 hook and went for it. It is so easy to do!

Then there are the pretty crochet flowers that I thought were impossible....well I was wrong again. This time I used size 8 perle cotton and a size 10 hook and found out they were easy. I improvised the pattern a little because it stopped at the 3rd row of petals and I wanted 4 rows. I've started a pink hanger and have ordered a bunch of pretty colors of perle cotton to make piles of flowers....I'm hooked. You can click on the image for a closer view.

Bling!!!

Aren't they pretty!

This item was listed and sold awhile back in her shop. I love these little rhinestone balls! Of course that became another obsession for me until I finally have my own little collection of "bling balls"!

White Wednesday

A quick trip to the thrift store this morning......

Sugar and creamer in excellent condition....

A pair of white pillow cases that have never been used....

A pair of wall shelves made of plaster. I have no idea if these are very old but I'll give them a fresh coat of paint. A cheap but sturdy little jewelry box that will look great repainted! I can use it to store special buttons. An old handmade wood shelf that looks like another wood shop project made long ago out of oak. I don't think I'll paint that nice wood but it will make a great nick nack shelf.

A cute little basket that I might paint as it has a little stain on the bottom and a pair of dessert plates.....And my favorite for last.....love this.....

Daffodils!!! Ansley bone china. Funny the last time I went to that store I came home with the copper daffodils.

China, Tatting and Lace

An old Martha Washinton sewing table that I found in an antique shop makes a nice place to display some of my favorite pieces. One of my Grandmothers doilies is the base for all of this.

Love this Bone China Bouquet of Flowers. I found this in a junk shop in Arizona and I mean a 'JUNK' shop. I couldn't believe my eyes. The price was cheap, not a chip or scratch anywhere. I was flying home and wondered how this would survive.

I carefully wrapped it up in tissue and then a lot of bubble wrap. It fit into my carry on bag which I hung onto with dear life for fear the flight attendant would see it and insist on stuffing it into the overhead. It would have never made it they way she was pushing things in that compartment. It made it home without a ding.

Mother Of Pearl buttons from one of my most favorite shops on Etsy Exuberant Housewifery fill a pretty little Nippon dish.

Beautiful fine tatting from Exuberant Housewifery and a dainty little frame handpainted with roses.

Rhinestones and Tarnished Silver

A little bit of 'bling'. Most of these beautiful pieces were purchased on Etsy at one of my favorite shops Unfinished Business A little tarnished silver plated sugar bowl makes a pretty display. I can't get the 'sparkle' to show as well as they really shine.
